By default, PacGen has unit animations ON. In-game, you may toggle this feature off on the left menu bar though it doesn t turn off moving from one hex to the next. As I mentioned, by default, unit animations are on and you may toggle them off what I have discovered, is that if you turn them off, then on again immediately, all unit animations in WinXP pick up in speed considerably. I hope this helps folks. Before the above listed patch, those who had WinXP or Win2K and wished to play PacGen, had little chance to get the game to run stable it may have even seemed stable for a scenario, then continually crash once you got into the next scenario.
The best bet was Virtual PC , which is discussed below:. It s not a partition or dual boot or emulator, it s like having the option of running a true Win98 in a window on WindowsXP it works like a champ for running games that require Win98, such as PG1 and PacGen. Just remember one thing when using Virtual PC you cannot load virtual machine additions and then run PacGen. It will adversly effect PacGen s screen resolution. Click on.
